Rene was born and raised in Bloomington, Indiana. She attended the University of Pittsburgh and graduated in 2011 with a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies. She served in the U.S. Peace Corps in Senegal from 2012-2014. She then worked in the social services sector before pursuing a Master of Science in Environmental Science (MS) and a Master of Public Affairs (MPA) at Indiana University’s School of Public and Environmental Affairs (SPEA). She graduated in December 2019, having spearheaded a residential well water sampling program for a local health department, managed a canoe and kayak rental operation, and worked as an interpretive naturalist at a State Park.

Rene has always enjoyed working outdoors and has experience working on a range of environmental issues, from conservation agriculture to wastewater treatment permitting. Rene developed an interest for healthy housing and indoor air quality while working on housing issues in New York City. With a strong background in the regulatory sector, Rene is excited to help VET’s clients find solutions to improve their businesses, homes, the environment, and public health.

Rene spends much of her free time with her family and friends. She also loves jaunts in the woods, jigsaw puzzles, listening to old records and gardening.
